The 3rd XI sponsored by Stamfords Bar were in YPLN action for the first time in club history and had an away trip to face Hensall 2nds. Skipper Ian Scott won the toss and chose to field first which chose to be an inspired decision as openers Ryan Kidd (5-40) and the ever youthful Geoff Woodward (2-26) ripped through the hosts top order, with Kidd making the first appearance of the season on the honors board with a five wicket haul. Debutants Wes Smith (2-23) and Mike Johnson-Summers (1-3) then got in on the action as Hensall were bowled out for 119 in the 30th over.
The Pock openers wasted no time in their run chase and started quickly with Archie Sumner (17) and Scott (21) finding early boundaries before both falling. Those were the last wickets to fall however with Jonny Sumner (30*) and John Fiorentini (45*) seeing their team home in the 21st over to confirm an opening day eight wicket win.
The 3rds are back in action next week and have their first home match as they host Thorpe Willoughby 2nds.
