Pock 3rds sponsored by A&M Removals of Pocklington hosted neighbors Melbourne in a local game this past weekend and after winning the toss, captain Ian Scott chose to bat first on yet another superb pitch provided by Neal Jackson.

Things started badly when Jonny Sumner (1) was bowled by Scott Coupland (1-47) however Melbourne's joy was short lived as captain Scott (96) and James Foley (79) proceeded to both hit impressive half centuries in a 142 run partnership which only ended in the 30th over as Foley was bowled, Scott and Frank Fitzpatrick (21) took the scoring to 191 before Scott was caught agonizingly short of a century. With only a few overs remaining a few more wickets fell as the young middle order tried to boost the score and Pock eventually finished on 208-9. Former PCC junior Ben Thomas (3-45) the pick of the bowling for the visitors.

Following a delicious tea for the home team kindly provided by the Scotts the game got back underway and Melbourne struggled against Pocks impressive junior bowling attack. Freddie Forman was unlucky not to get a wicket in his 6 overs which went for only 6 runs, Will Foley (1-19) got himself one opening up from the other end. Next into the attack were Josh Tanikal (4-50) and Oscar Cowling (3-33) who proceeded to rip through the Melbourne team as wickets fell at regular intervals preventing the visitors from putting together any long lasting partnerships. Jonny Lofthouse was unlucky not to get a wicket after being introduced also before Jonny Sumner (1-14) finished off the game with a wicket. Melbourne by this point had limped to 151 all out, largely thanks to a well-known figure at Burnby Lane, Adam Thomas (48), former PCC player of over 20 years who one day we may see again at PCC .
