Pocklington 2nds sponsored by Stamfords made the journey to Pontefract on Saturday for their first ever visit to Hundhill Hall. Unsurprisingly skipper Ian Scott as is becoming customary, lost the toss and also unsurprisingly the team were asked to field first on a small ground and hot weather.

It might have been a master stroke however when the hosts found themselves 5-2 and it could have been four down quickly had it not been for tough chances dropped. Wickets continued to flow though and Hundhill were in trouble at 102-8, a bit of luck though and some excellent shots from Muhammad (74) boosted the home sides total though before the introduction of Ted Donkin (1-16) who came on and bowled him with this first delivery, the last wicket stand didn't last much longer and Hundhill were all out for 206 in the 41st over. Freddie Hara (3-31) was the pick of the bowlers after an excellent opening 12 over spell, Will Foley (2-29) bowled well and with good pace whilst Freddie Forman (3-72) also picked up three wickets and Alex Ashby (1-15) picked up the final one to fall.

Pock in reply lost early wickets themselves as Scott (16), Donkin (8) and Joe Wilson (11) were all out with the score 59-3. This brought Dan Croft (74) and James Saltmer (56*) together and the pair effectively took the game away from the hosts with a 129 run partnership that saw both players pass the half century mark. Croft was caught late on which meant Josh Tanikal (10*) came to the crease and he saw the game over the line with Saltmer to make it three wins on the bounce for the 2nds and another ten points to the league total which now sees the team sit in third place in Division 2 Ebor.

Next week the 2nds are back on the road and take their first ever trip to Thorner Mexborough.
