Pocklington 2nds sponsored by Stamfords hosted Hillam & Monk Fryston on Saturday and after finally winning a toss Ian Scott of course elected to bat first on what looked to be another superb batting track prepared by England over 60s international Neal Jackson.

This was another game where runs flowed from the start and despite the early loss of Scott (15) the team pushed onto 94 before another wicket fell with Matt Atkinson (34) was out lbw. John Chaplin (78) was joined by Dan Croft (42) and Chaplin passed his half century as the pair moved the score onto 174 before Croft was trapped lbw. Chaplin was next out caught behind but the score had moved onto 204-4, Joss Room (30) added some quickfire runs before being caught which sparked a little collapse and Alex Ashby (0) and Max Wilson (0) quickly followed without troubling the scorers. With nine overs left and the score 250-7 there were still runs to be had and Lewis Chaplin (73) continued his good form with the bat this season to score a quick fire half century and batted well alongside Max Lovelock (10) on second team debut as they passed the 300 mark before Lovelock and Chaplin were both out late on. Will Foley (8*) added some late runs alongside Teddy Wilson also on debut who showed some quick running between the wickets to help boost the teams score as they finished on 313-9. A great score on a great pitch.

After yet another fantastic tea provided by The Wolds Cafe Pock set about getting some early wickets and it proved hard work for the bowlers, wickets did come but not as regularly as Pock would have liked partly down to several dropped chances which saw Hillam at a143-5 after 26 overs. They pushed on from here and made the most of more dropped catches and eventually finished their innings on 235-9, well short of their target which meant Pock claimed the win and another ten points. The wickets were shared around with Max Wilson (2-43), Foley (1-34), Lovelock (1-25), Teddy Wilson (1-20), Room (1-26) and Croft (2-22) all in the mix.

Next week the 2nds are in home action again and host Selby II at Burnby Lane in a 1pm start.
