Pocklington 2nds hosted Wheldrake 1st XI on Saturday and skipper Ian Scott chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Wheldrake got off to a quick start and were 48 without loss after only 7 overs before Pock started to make some inroads with a few wickets, still the visitors were well placed at 103-3 but failed to really kick on in the middle overs and eventually slumped to 176 all out in the 44th over. Freddie Forman (3-40) bowled well and was unlucky not to get more, Lewis Chaplin (2-33) and Max Wilson (1-36) also bowled well. Andy Anderson (4-40) was the pick of the bowlers though with two good spells, under 13 Josh Fiorentini also bowled superbly in his five over spell and was unlucky not to take a wicket himself.
Pocks reply got off to a shaky start when opener Joss Room (0) was bowled early on with his first ball. Scott (41) helped to rebuild though and scored quickly alongside John Fiorentini (51*) before the skipper was caught with the score 51-2. Anderson (61) joined Fiorentini at the crease and the pair put on a good partnership to take the game away from Wheldrake with Anderson passing his half century before being caught to complete a MOM performance. At 149-3 Dan Croft (20*) came in and helped to get the 2nds to the finish line alongside Fiorentini who also hit a well played half century. Another good win for the 2nds who sit 3rd in Division 2 Ebor after adding another ten points to the table, they are back on the road next week when they travel away to face Castleford 2nds.
