Pocklington 2nds sponsored by Stamfords were back at Burnby Lane looking to right the wrongs of last week when they hosted Sherburn Eversley and after losing the toss were asked to bat first. Several batsmen got starts in the game but none went on to a big score, none the less Pock batted their overs and showed their depth in the line up with contributions throughout the team to finish on 227-8. James Saltmer (49) top scoring, with John Firoentini (30), Lewis Chaplin (28*) and Ted Donkin (26*) all adding valuable runs.
After a fantastic tea provided by Whisk, Pock set about defending their target and picked up a couple of early wickets, Sherburn steadied the ship even and kept nudging along towards their target even as wickets continued to fall. In the end it came down to the last over but Fiorentini bowled a good last over to help Pock win by ten runs, claim another ten points and most importantly bounce back from last weeks poor showing. Ted Donkin (2-47) and Geoff Woodward (3-53) both bowled impressive 12 over spells whilst openers Chaplin (2-53) and Freddie Forman (1-42) also both bowled impressively across their two spells.
Next week the 2nds are in home action again and host Fairburn 2nds in a 1pm start at Burnby Lane.
