Pocklington 2nds sponsored by A&M Removals of Pocklington were in home action this weekend as they hosted Ledsham 1sts and after winning the toss skipper John Chaplin invited the visitors to bat first.
This proved to be a great decision as tight bowling from Geoff Woodward (1-22), Lewis Chaplin (1-33) and then Freddie Hara (2-38) restricted Ledsham to 35-2 after 20 overs. Ledsham did eventually up it a gear but only finished their innings on 154-7 from their 45 overs, certainly a very under par score on yet another fantastic track prepared by Neal Jackson. Ben Lister (3-52) with the remaining wickets.
After an always delicious tea provided by Laveracks at Pocklington, the 2nds set about chasing down their target. Rich Williman (0) went early after unfortunately playing on to his stumps. Frank Fitzpatrick (11) started well but ran himself out after a bit of a mix up, he was then quickly followed back by James Saltmer (0) who also played onto his stumps with the score now 38-3. Joss Room (67*) and Dan Croft (43) then put on an important 84 run partnership to put them within touching distance before Croft was bowled. This was the last wicket to fall however as Room continued his patient innings to make a half century and was supported by James Fletcher (18*) at the end who helped to ease the 2nds to an impressive home win.
The 2nds are back on the road next weekend and face Church Fenton away.
