The 2nds sponsored by A&M Removals of Pocklington travelled to Wheldrake on Saturday and after losing the toss found themselves bowling first.
A great start for Pock saw Wheldrake reduced to 59-5, Geoff Woodward (4-29) rolling back the years with a great twelve over opening spell, supported well by Lewis Chaplin (2-18) who was unlucky not to get a wicket from a brilliant opening spell as Woodward claimed four along with a run out. Binu (59) led a fightback for the home team with a well played half century but Pock continued to chip away at the wickets and eventually bowled their hosts out for 143, Fin Waldron (1-34), Simon Hill (2-30) and Chaplin with the remaining wickets.
Pocks reply got off to a far worse start with a mixture of bad shots and good bowling which saw the team struggling at 35-6, Dan Croft (13) the only batter in the top six to reach double figures. Ben Lister (45*) and Walrdon (31) provided some fightback before Waldron was bowled, Chaplin (15) then added some useful runs alongside Lister before he was caught with the 2s now 107-8. Hill (7*) joined Lister at the crease and managed to stay with Lister who eventually hit the winning runs with three overs to spare to hand the 2nds a second successive win for the first time this season.
Next week the 2nds will look to try and make it three on the bounce with an away game on Sunday against Carlton Towers 2nds.
