The 2nds were away against Dringhouses 2s on Saturday and were left short handed after a couple of late call offs. Fortunately the evergreen Mal Harrison was on hand to boost the team number back to ten to play his first 2nd XI game in many a year.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first things started well as Ben Lister (25) and Iain Jozefowicz (36) put on 55 for the first wicket in the first 10 overs. A few wickets then fell quickly as Pock stumbled to 61-3 and then 71-5, und 15 Josh Tanikal (32) then batted well and showed great temperament to help steady the ship and add very useful runs, he was well supported by Simon Hill (26) and then Geoff Woodward (8) before Harrison was left stranded as the 2s were all out after 35 overs hitting a score of 150.
Pock opened the bowling looking to attack and quickly made inroads into the Dringy team as Woodward (3-25) and Lister (3-16) helped reduce the hosts to 36-6. It was always going to be tough to come back from here for the hosts and the 2s lineup showed not sign of letting up with und 15 Will Foley (2-21) bowling an impressive five overs on second XI debut, backed up by his fellow junior team mate Tanikal (1-20) and then Hill (1-25) who claimed another wicket to help wrap up the win as Dringy were bowled out after limping their way to 103.
An impressive all round performance from this mixed second team with only ten players. A terrific effort by all the juniors as well as the more senior players and of course the captain Lister who had a tough card dealt with the call offs and manged the situation well as well as the game to claim a brilliant win and another 10 points. Next week the seconds finish their season at home against York 4ths.
