Pocklington 1sts sponsored by Stamfords hosted Clifton Alliance 2nds this weekend and skipper Joel Taylor elected to bat first after winning the toss on yet another superb looking batting pitch at Burnby Lane.

Things got off to a great start reaching 73 without loss before Martin Stables (46) was bowled just shy of his half century. James Fletcher (19), Dan Littlewood (29) both got starts but followed Stables back along with Harry Snelling (1) who was run out. At 133-4 Pock were still well set and Taylor (59) added another half century himself before being caught, wickets continued to tumble and Pock didn't manage to bat their overs as they were bowled out for 235 in the 47th over perhaps a few short of what they would have liked.

After yet another superb tea provided by Wolds Cafe the Pock attack quickly had their tails up as they had Clifton 21-4 with Connaire Brattan (2-85) and Alex Downey (2-46) both striking. Clifton showed resilience though and batted well even as Dave Chaplin (3-41) picked up another three wickets in his excellent 13 over spell. The visitors however were indebted to Max Thomas (40*) who played a good innings to see his team home after Watkinson (80) had earlier played a vital role in the run chase with a half century as Clifton won by three wickets with nine overs to spare.

The 1sts add two points to the league total in their defeat and will be back in home action again next week as they host Drax in a midday start.
