Pocklington 1sts sponsored by Stamfords hosted Malton & Old Malton last Saturday at Burnby Lane and chose to bat first after winning the toss. An improved batting display saw Pock bat their allotted fifty overs and reach a score of 226-9, several batters getting starts without converting meant they were probably under par on yet another fantastic pitch provided by Neal Jackson, Matt Atkinson (42) and Harry Snelling (41) top scoring.

After yet another superb tea provided by Wolds Cafe, Malton came out on the attack and runs flowed quickly with the openers Harland (94) and Allott (67) putting on 144 for the first wicket. Only two more wickets fell as Malton reached their target with ease in the 36th over, Dave Chaplin (2-34) and Freddie Forman (1-41) with the wickets.

A tough defeat against a strong Malton side means no points added this week but still positives to take and plenty to work on as the 1sts approach a big couple of weeks starting with an away trip to face Acomb 2nds who sit just below is in the table.
