Pocklington 1sts sponsored by Stamfords travelled to Osbaldwick on Saturday and after losing the toss the hosts decided to unsurprisingly bat first on another scorching afternoon.
Osbaldwick got off to quick start reaching 54 from five overs before Alex Downey (3-57) took two wickets in two balls, including the wicket of free scoring Sonter (21). Osbaldwick continued to score throughout though, but were steadied in the middle thanks to a customary good bowling spell from Dave Chaplin (2-51), who came back for a second spell to finish the hosts off after they reached 256, Will Atkinson (4-50) also helped to clean up the tail. Freddie Forman also bowled well in his two spells on his first outing of the year for the 1st XI.
A tough chase lay ahead but John Fioentini (25) and Dan Littlewood (41) got Pock off to a good start reaching 64 without loss before Fiorentini was caught. Littlewood was next to fall, but Harry Snelling (38) and Cameron Mitchell (25) kept advancing the score, but when both fell a mini collapse ensued as the team went from 141-4 to 166-8 with Nathan Saltmer (2), Joel Taylor (3) and Atkinson (3) and Downey (6) all failing to trouble the scorers. Chaplin (31*) and Forman (17*) batted well at the end though and ensured Pock took something from the game finishing on 207-8 to add two useful points onto the league table.
Next weekend the 1sts are back in home action as we kick off the second half of the season and play host to Malton at Burnby Lane in a midday start.
