Pocklington 1sts sponsored by Stamford were in action at home yesterday and hosted title favourites and current league leaders Dunnington and invited their visitors to bat first after winning the toss.
At the half way stage things were relatively in the balance with only one wicket having fallen but the scoring not yet that high. The tide quickly turned though as overseas star Samarasooriya (156*) got into his groove alongside Jack Bolam (70). Samarasooriya in particular showing a full array of shots which included ten sixes as Dunnington posted a first innings score of 317-3. Connarie Brattan (1-72). Alex Downey (1-53) and Dan Littlewood (1-47) with the wickets.
After yet another superb tea provided by Wolds Cafe Pocks run chase got underway and after a bad start and finding themselves 4-2 with Dave Chaplin (0) and Dan Littlewood (1) both being removed early, Charlie Lambert (28) and John Chaplin (31) started to rebuild. Lambert was unfortunately run out though when looking well set and this sparked a succession of wickets until Pock were eventually bowled out for 151 with Neal Jackson (16*) remaining unbeaten, Ed Lomas (34) the other main contributor to the score.
The 1sts are back in action on Monday and travel away to face Clifton Alliance 2s as they look to bounce back from yesterdays defeat.
