Pocklington 1st XI sponsored by Stamfords Bar got their season underway facing South Holderness away on Saturday and were set a target of 257 after the hosts batted first. Will Atkinson (1-56), skipper Harry Collins (2-33), Alex Downey (2-58) & Fred Nightingale (1-28) with the wickets, Luke Ingram (103) once again glued the Holderness innings together with a well played century.
The PCC reply ran close but ultimately fell short as Pock were bowled out for 234 but crucially unlike in previous seasons managed to pick up the maximum possible four points in defeat. Atkinson showed his all round ability top scoring, with Dan Littlewood (40) and Cameron Mitchell (45) also making useful contributions.
Next week the 1sts have their first home game of the season and host Driffield 2nds in a midday start as they look to claim their first win of the season.
