Lots still to play for

Following last weekends fixtures we have now reached the halfway point in this seasons fixture lists for our senior teams sponsored by Stamfords.

We have had four senior teams for a few years now but this is our first ever season with three Saturday teams participating in the YPLN following the collapse of the York Vale league, which also now sees our 4th XI competing in the newly formed Sunday Vale Division which is also part of the new YPLN structure. This meant that our teams are now being represented in the following leagues:

1st XI - Championship East
2nd XI - Division 2 Ebor
3rd XI - Division 5 Ebor
4th XI - Sunday Vale League

With lots still to play for across all four teams here is how teams are fairing up so far.

The 1st XI currently sit in 11th place in Championship East which is the second of two relegation spots with 36 points, Cottingham currently occupy bottom spot having only claimed two points thus far. Sutton-on-Hull sit in tenth place on 44 points and Goole in 9th on 46 points who the 1sts will be looking to close in again soon, starting with this weekend's home fixture against South Holderness who currently occupy 5th place.

The 2nds have had a solid start to their season and currently sit in mid table at 6th place having gained 60 points so far with five wins and six defeats, crucially though the team have been picking up points in defeat which has kept them higher up in the league. The 2nds will be aiming to pick up as many points as quickly as possible to solidify their position in Division 2 Ebor for another year.

The 3rds as we mentioned are playing for the first time in the clubs history as part of the YPLN set up and currently occupy 3rd place in the newly formed Division 5 Ebor having won 8 of their 11 fixtures thus far. It is a very tight league which currently sees Ben Johnson topping it with 94 points, the 3rds are only 8 points behind on 86 with Ovington 3s in-between on 92. As far as we know only one team is promoted from Division 5 Ebor so it is likely to be a hotly contested race in the second half of the season with Hensall 2nds also pushing for promotion in 4th place on 80 points who the 3rds host on Saturday at Burnby Lane and can create a small gap with another victory.

The 4ths are also playing for the first time in the YPLN structure in the newly formed Sunday Vale Division and led for the first time this season by Tim Dennis who is doing a terrific job in managing the side and making the team a fun and inclusive environment whilst also trying to remain competitive. The 4ths currently sit in 12th place out of 16 teams and will be aiming to finish as high as possible in their season run in.

So far we have seen several honours board entries for 2025, PCC debuts, brilliant team and individual performances right throughout the teams and we look forward to seeing more in the second half of the season. More importantly we continue to see the superb atmosphere that has been built over several years throughout the club, which can be seen on match days, training nights, junior nights, club socials and so on. We are proud to have such an inclusive, supportive and welcoming club and always welcome anyone thinking of joining us or just coming down for a cheap drink in the some to please come along.

We look forward to seeing you down at PCC and we look forward to seeing how the teams fair for the rest of the season, come on PCC!
