New Nets are Finally Here

New Nets Are Here

**Spring Update - Nets are here**

We are absolutely delighted to share the long awaited news with you that our new outdoor nets facility has now been installed at Burnby Lane and is ready for use, as you can see from the picture it looks utterly fantastic.

Following the awarded funding back in 2021 that the club successfully applied for we have been tackling the previously listed projects one by one and unfortunately the nets had several delays which were unavoidable which meant that the project had to be pushed back to 2023. Thanks to tireless work from volunteers at the club we are now able to provide a first class outdoor two lane facility for all of our members to enjoy. We must at this point put our sincere thanks on record though specifically to Alan Davies, Mike Wellock and Jonny Sumner who have worked incredibly hard to ensure these nets were in place for the new season. Thanks as well to Richard Donkin who has provided great support to the clubs volunteer team in all his work around the plans, to ERYC who have enabled us to make huge improvements as a club with this and all other funded projects at the club and thanks to the rest of the clubs committee not only current members but of course of the last few years who have all played their part in the clubs improvements.

Not only do we now have a top quality purpose built two lane net facility but we also an additional lane to the left which our roll on net can be used for practice on a bowling machine, again this will be of great benefit to our members of all ages.

We can't wait to see the nets in use soon and welcoming the Pocklington community down to Burnby Lane this summer whether it be to take a look at the improvements, pop in for a drink, support the teams or all three!

Car Park

As you may remember from our winter update in December we had also made improvements to the car park. This has now been further added to as the additional area is now completely open meaning we now have additional parking spaces and the area has been completely covered with new chippings.

Cricket

On the cricket side of things, this Saturday (15th April) we have our friendly matches with a mixed PCC XI taking on a Hull City Council XI in a repeat of last years warm up game.

On the main ground we also have an inter club friendly taking place and both games will be followed by an awards evening for the 2022 season starting immediately after the conclusion of both games around 7-7.30pm in the clubhouse. We invite all club members to come along for what promises to be a great way to kick off the new season.

Juniors

As well as the upcoming friendlies on Saturday we are also hosting a a Junior Pre-season Social on Saturday (15th April) which gets underway from 12 noon onwards, why not come along and see what the club has to offer junior players from year 1s up to year 10s.

There will also be ’kit swap’ too… outgrown pads, bat too small, whites, jumpers, spikes…. why not bring your juniors equipment along and see if you can swap it for something bigger.

Clubhouse

Whilst we made huge strides forward with our clubhouse refurbishment last year we are still looking for ways to improve and we have been undertaking work to upgrade several areas in the clubhouse and we'll provide a further update and more pictures on this soon.
